Climate Heritage — Bridging Art, Culture, and Environmental Awareness Through VR

As part of our Digital Heritage Internship Program, Climate Heritage: Bridging Art, Culture, and Heritage for Protecting Environment is an immersive Virtual Reality (VR) project created by five talented youth from Sulaimani, under the mentorship of the ڕێکخراوی کەلەپووری کولتووری and supported by the Nahrein Network.

Immersive Storytelling to Highlight Environmental Challenges

This innovative VR experience combines heritage, technology, and powerful storytelling to bring attention to the urgent environmental crisis affecting the Tanjaro River near Sulaimani City. Users are invited to see the river’s escalating pollution through the eyes of three different perspectives—a local fisherman, an eagle, and a fish—each revealing a unique aspect of the ecosystem under threat.

By immersing participants in these narratives, the project aims to raise awareness of this overlooked ecological disaster and motivate sustainable action that honors the connection between culture, heritage, and nature preservation.

Experience and Engage

To explore this impactful project, visit our office or attend one of our community engagement events. Our team will assist you in using the VR headset to fully experience the environmental dangers in place.
