Virtual Sarai

Virtual Sarai is a Virtual Reality (VR) project that enables a virtual visit to the Sarai building to meet and listen to historical figures and eyewitnesses from the early 20th century. In this immersive virtual environment, each of the virtual characters recounts their memories of important historical events from the period of British colonialism after the first World War and the early post-colonial era. Virtual Sarai extends the “Talk to Sarai” or TSE mobile phone-based Augmented Reality (AR) experience to the virtual world to make the experience more immersive, engaging, and interactive. These projects aim at eliciting cross-generational and cross-cultural awareness and dialogue. Virtual Sarai is one of a series of interdisciplinary innovative projects that have been conceptualized, designed, developed, and evaluated by our CHO organization and the Nahrein Network partner (based at the University College London (UCL))
